Elegance meets state-of-the-art production technology

Picturesque Albergaria, near the Ria de Aveiro, is home to one of the most modern LIXIL sites, producing exclusively for the GROHE brand. Based on German engineering skills, LIXIL’s international network of expertise is spreading, establishing the success of the leading supplier in the building materials industry and in residential building equipment. GROHE is a leading global brand for complete bathroom solutions and kitchen fittings. Every day, more than 900 employees in Albergaria are committed to ensuring the highest level of quality and product performance.

Since its start of production in 1998, GROHE's Albergaria site has pursued the brand values of quality, technology, design, and sustainability, producing approximately 2 million kitchen appliances, 1.6 million thermostatic cartridges, and 1.4 million thermostats every year.

The product highlights at the site represent the innovative character of the brand: The GROHE Essence collection gives any bathroom a harmonious look and combines state-of- the-art technology with exceptional performance. With the Minta Touch faucet, activated by the simple touch of an arm, the GROHE brand once again proves the forward-looking technology of its products. GROHE water systems offer flexibility: GROHE Blue delivers the taste of fresh, filtered water and GROHE Red offers kettle hot water directly from the tap.

But not only the products at the Albergaria site are innovative, the production techniques also feature the latest standards. PVD Coloring is the most modern coloring process for surface coating: With the help of temperature and atmosphere control, the cathodes’ material, e.g., titanium, chrome, or silver, is vaporized. Using the effect of an electric arc, it is then deposited on the specific object’s surface.

The result: highly aesthetic colors, with brushed or shiny surfaces. PVD technology offers 10 times higher scratch resistance and 3 times higher surface hardness, giving GROHE products a higher wear and corrosion resistance. At the Albergaria site, quality products are manufactured to ensure the sustainable success of the GROHE brand.
