The story of Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel & SPA begins with a drop and its incessant fall which shapes material and spaces, generating a unique landscape.

The drop also summarizes the millennial origin of the city of Matera and its characteristic architectures – “Sassi” - that made the city a World Heritage Site in 1993 and European Capital of Culture for 2019.

The purity and the sinuosity of the drop led the architect’s work Simone Micheli in the definition of the interior spaces and the furnishings. The result is a unique space with a powerful identity with a strong focus on sustainability, which goes beyond the traditional concept of time.
