Built alongside Amsterdam’s canals as early as the 17th Century, the bridge houses were used by the keepers to control the operation of the bridges. In 2012, however, operations were centralized and Suzanne Oxenaar and Architects Space & Matter saw a unique opportunity to repurpose these buildings into city center boutique hotels. Needless to say, each bridge house has one characteristic in common: a superb and commanding view of the canal.
