Strengthening the sanitary industry: GROHE sponsors WorldSkills in Lyon

Düsseldorf, September 16, 2024 – In the summer of sport 2024, the best of the best in many disciplines measured their strength in France – at the Tour de France, the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The competition continued in Lyon over the past few days: from September 10 to 15, 1,400 young talents from over 70 countries took part in the 47th WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, one of the world’s most important vocational education and skills excellence events. As a Silver Sponsor of WorldSkills, GROHE supported the organization of the competition for Plumbing and Heating and provided products for installation. After four exciting days, Weilong Sun from China prevailed over 25 peers to become the current World Champion in Plumbing and Heating.

Bringing the installer profession into the spotlight is an important task as the sanitary industry faces challenges in attracting young talent to open positions worldwide. While the demand for installers is growing, the number of people pursuing this career path continues to decline. The partnership with WorldSkills International is only one of the efforts GROHE is making to support the sanitary industry. With its GIVE (GROHE Installer Vocational Training and Education) Program, the brand works together with more than 60 plumbing schools across Europe and provides them with modern equipment and materials to ensure the best possible training for future installers.

However, the brand's commitment extends beyond preparing future professionals: as a reliable partner, GROHE is dedicated to supporting tradespeople in advice and practical help to make their day-to-day work easier. With its comprehensive portfolio, the sanitaryware brand has created a unique product and service proposition tailored to the needs of its professional partners. For example, the newly launched GROHE Rapido Shower Frame allows for the installation of a concealed shower system in just three steps. Pre-assembled components such as mixed water pipes and concealed elements as well as a leak test performed before delivery save up to three hours of working time(1) and training expenditures for new installers. Comprehensive training sessions further enhance the portfolio: in 2023, GROHE trainers educated more than 9,000 installers on product innovations and installation methods. For those looking for snackable content, the GROHE Training Companion is the way to go. This on-demand learning platform puts dedicated information at the fingertips of installers.

These efforts help address the shortage of installers while raising the profile and recognition of the profession.
